Best Kept Secrets of Breckenridge Co- Breckenridge Has It All!

I am so thankful to be living in Colorado and we have traveled the entire state from corner to corner. One of our favorite places to go in Colorado is Breckenridge! Breckenridge (Breckinridge-former spelling) was founded in 1859 when gold was discovered along the Blue River. I love the Victorian atmosphere of this 150 year old town walking the streets and visiting all the amazing shops and cafes. I feel right at home in this old west meets the modern era style and the people are friendly and helpful. It’s akin to lay back and enjoy yourself or jump in and participate in the many activities it has to offer.

Yes, Breckenridge has the most wonderful ski slopes in the world.  It’s what Breckenridge is known for!  Travelers the world over travel to Breckenridge for it’s skiing alone and it’s interesting to see all the people.   It’s not at all unexpected to hear several languages spoken as you sit to enjoy a meal at one of the many restaurants or cafes.  You’ll want to try out the comedy nights at the Park Avenue Pub!  Or how about a Carriage Ride?!  I love it!  Take a tour of the Breckenridge Brewery and sample their wares.

Dining in Breckenridge:
Breckenridge offers cuisine for eveyone’s tastes.  You’ll find fine dining restaurants to street cafes for a quick bite.  No matter what you are looking for to delight your palate from American classics, Italian, Mexican, steaks, burgers, BBQ, Seafood, even Asian fare.  I especially love Bubba Gumps Shrimp Co myself.  Though if it’s fine dining you are after you may want to make reservations during the busy season to assure you have a table ready.  It’s all delicious no matter where you chose to eat.

This quaint mountain town does not close up it’s doors at night like you might expect, no Breckenridge has an active night life if you aren’t too tired from all that skiing.  There is always something going on in Breckenridge throughout the year.  From parades to historic tours, biking, hiking, camping and fishing, or just shopping at one of the 200 stores!  Not to mention the music, theater and arts, museums, film festivals, quilting and stitching club.

Each January Breckenridge celebrates the Ullr Festival- Ullr (pronounced Ooh-ler) is a weeklong celebration of the mythical Norse god of snow with a parade, live entertainment and bar series, the Ullr dating game, a Nordic party, the Ullympics and ice skating.  A weeklong Party that is a must!  My daughter and her husband attended not too long ago and had such fun!  She especially enjoyed the costuming.  And this year as Breckenridge celebrates it’s 150 years they have even more activities you can participate in.  So your Breckenridge Vacation can be the best ever.

“The snow has been falling and Breckenridge has prime ski conditions in time for spring break. With a free live concert with Lyrics Born, Best Bar Party Competition, rail jam, retro ski movie nights, concerts, a comedy night, family film night, on-mountain activities and spring savings coupon books, Breckenridge is the place to be during the month of March. Aside from events taking place almost every day of the month, there is also incredible savings to be had with lodging and lift packages as low as $99 per person, per night and a huge list of things to do in Breck for free or less than $20.”  Pretty Cool Deals!

Most of the lodging is within walking distance of downtown and you can take the gondola and be skiing at 13,000 ft. within minutes if you chose.  If you only come for the scenery alone it will be well worth the trip seeing Colorado’s majestic peaks.  They will literally take your breath away in their beauty.  Skiing, snowboarding, sledding, mountaineering, hiking, biking, fishing, camping, dining, nightlife, I love my state!  And I especially love Breckenridge – I know you will too!
